New Calling . . .

I believe it was President Monson that made the comment, "Besides the Bishop, the Young Men's organization is where we put some of our greatest men." (not really an actual quote because I can't seem to find what I'm looking for - but you get the gist of it) ~~~~ Scott has a new calling . . . Stake Young Mens first counselor! Most family and friends know that Scott has been involved with Young Men for about the past 14 years! He can't seem to get away from it. But in all honesty . . . he's amazing with them. When we lived in Connecticut (when this whole Young Mens journey began) he was called to be a Scout Master. We had a good laugh over it because his father was a scout master. It seemed he was following in his father's footsteps. The scouting program in the Woodbridge, CT ward was in shambles. It was barely a skeleton of a troop that he had to work with. My amazing husband took it and ran with it. From those humble beginnings nearly every single one of those young men earned their Eagle Scout! The Sunday before we moved up to Vermont, they presented Scott with a plaque that said "Scoutmaster, a hero, a friend". There were many tears shed.

I missed it! Camille had the chicken pox.

In Vermont he served as Young Mens President, scout master, and other various callings in Young Mens. In South Jordan, UT he served again in the Young Mens program. Besides a few short stints in Primary and as the Assistant Ward Clerk, he's always been in Young Mens. I guess the Lord really likes the work he's done so far. So He's raising the bar . . . now it's at the Stake level. I have no doubts that Scott will be an amazing counselor and do an awesome job. He never ceases to amaze me!

Back on the wagon!

It has been brought to my attention that I need to post something before I start getting angry letters. . . oh wait . . . I already did get a letter. Although it wasn't angry - it was just kindly asking that I make a new post. So here you go . . .

I'm back on the exercise wagon! I fell off a long time ago . . . way back in Utah. Back there I had access to a free gym! And I took advantage of it for a good while. I did a 12-week program by Bob Green. It was called "Bob Green's Total Body Makeover". It's very good if you're looking for a program to follow. I followed it faithfully for the 12 weeks and started to look great. And at the end of the 12 weeks I found myself tired of the same routine and wanting to do something. So I started going for walks. Well . . . walking wasn't enough to keep the same effect happening to my body. And it all slowly . . . No, it all very quickly came back. BLAH!!! And then, (about a year later) we decided to move to Hawaii. During the moving process I felt that it was my duty to eat the extra food we had so we didn't have to move it or give it away. NOT A SMART THING TO DO! Needless to say, I really need to get back into my routine of exercise.

Soooooooo, I'm starting my Power 90 again. For those of you who don't know what that is, well, it's an exercise dvd that I purchased off the television when we lived in Vermont. It's a 90 day program that really is good. I love it and it gets results. I also have a friend on facebook doing the same thing with me. That helps me stay motivated. Today was my 9th day of exercise. I'm not counting the weekends when I don't exercise. You alternate cardio days with weight lifting days. On the cardio day you do a little power yoga, jumping jacks, kick-boxing, punching and abs. Then of course on weight days you lift weights and do push-ups and squats. It's a very good work out. Unfortunately when we moved I got rid of my 5 lb. weights. So at first I was using soup cans! But then Camille ate the soup . . . So now I use cartons of soy milk! Bet you didn't think soymilk was multi-talented! I will get some real weights someday. But hey, for now, it's all good!

Ok, so though I love Power 90, it's old news! There's a new and improved version called P90X. I have tons of friends that are doing that one. I'm thinking I'll get myself in better shape with Power 90 then move on to P90X. It gives me something to look forward to, and it gives me something to "move on" to when I'm finished with Power 90. If you want to check it out go to www.beachbody.com. They have several workout DVDs. I have a few of them. But I didn't even see Power 90 on there anymore. I also own the Slim in 6 and Turbo Jam. But Power 90 (and I'm sure P90X) are the best of them in my opinion.

So now you know! And now that I've told you all I'll have to stay on track! I'll be more than happy to post "after" photos once I reach my goal.
